Join volunteer Jane Earle to search and view joe-pye weed, pokeweed, three species of monarda and two species of jewelweed. Learn how these flowers were named and some of their early and even modern day uses.

Junior Naturalists ages 9 to 11 interested in the flora and fauna of Wildwood Park will spend the week learning about species identification and natural history. Topics explored include life beneath the water, tracks and scat, plants, insects and birds. REGISTRATION OPENS ON JANUARY 5, 2026.

Join us for a moderately paced walk meeting on City Island then walking along the riverfront to Shipoke and back. The Walk with a Doc program is designed to provide some general health tips and a moderately-paced walk. A Park Rx Wellness Program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield and supported by Penn State Health.

Children ages 6 to 8 will learn about animal adaptations, explore aquatic life in Paxton Creek and enjoy a live animal presentation. Each day we will explore a new topic including native trees, mammals, amphibians, insects and water/wetlands. Please register for only one week. Registration limited to 20 campers.

Outdoor enthusiasts ages 12 to 14 will spend the week in nature exploring the natural world and learning basic wilderness survival skills. Each day will include a hike and digging deeper into a different aspect of survival. Activities may include fire building, wild edibles, water filtration, and navigation skills. Discover the importance of teamwork during daily “initiative” challenges and activities. The week will also include an off-site hiking trip and tandem kayaking experience. Registration is limited to 18 campers.

Join us for some fresh air and time outdoors for a walk at the recently opened Boyd's Park in Susquehanna Township! The Walk With A Doc program is designed to provide some general health information and a moderately-paced walk. This is a FREE walk, but we ask that you pre-register.

Join Master Gardener Kevin Kelly for a guided walk through the Nature Center’s Garden Beds. Each walk will highlight what’s in bloom, along with shrubs, foliage, structure and other seasonal features that give the garden interest and support wildlife. With a strong native-plant focus, this walk offers a deeper look at how the landscape changes-and why those changes matter. Meet in front of the Olewine Nature Center. Space is limited. Pre-registration is required.
