Please notify the Tax Assessment Office at (717) 780-6101 if you have moved and your mailing address has now changed. It is the responsibility of the property owner to ensure that their mailing address is always up to date.

DISCLAIMER:
The Pay by Phone and Online payment options will be shut down on September 25, 2024 at 12:00pm EST due to the 2024 Upset Tax Sale.
Any payment to remove a property from the sale must be received in the office by 4:00pm EST on September 25, 2024.

*Please note that Dauphin County residents are not relieved from paying taxes due to not receiving notification of taxes due.

COLLECTION OF DELINQUENT PROPERTY TAX

The Bureau is now accepting payment for 2023 delinquent property tax.

 

  • Methods of payment are cash, certified check, cashier’s check, or money order, online or over the phone.

No personal or business checks are accepted. They will be returned.

  • ONLINE:
    • Go to Tax Claim (www.dauphinpropertyinfo.org) Follow steps for payment.
    • All major credit cards accepted; there will be a fee of 2.55% for credit cards payments. For Visa Debit the fee is $4.00.
  • OVER THE PHONE:
    • Dial 1-877-690-3729, Jurisdiction Code is 7512. 
    • Enter full property ID# XX-XXX-XXX-XXX-XXXX. If the property ID # is only 8 digits long, then 7 zeros must be entered after the numeric portion. 
    • All major credit cards accepted; there will be a fee of 2.55% for credit card payments. For Visa Debit the fee is $4.00.
  • There will be an interest-free grace period in the months of February and March, however, interest cannot be adjusted for over the phone or online payment. On April 1, 2024, Interest will be added effective March 1, 2024 for any remaining unpaid 2023 tax.
  • Highspire Borough has opposed the interest-free grace period. Interest will be collected on Municipal tax.
  • This is interest-free NOT penalty free. Interest is added at a rate of .0075 or ¾% per month.

Payment Policy

Dauphin County Tax Claim Bureau’s preferred payment methods are Certified Check, Cashier’s Check, or Money Order payable to Dauphin County Tax Claim Bureau.

NO PERSONAL OR BUSINESS CHECKS WILL BE ACCEPTED.

Certain Debit/Credit Cards will also be accepted in person with proper ID. Additional fees will be applied.

Alternatively, if the aforementioned payment options are not available to the payer, cash will also be accepted.

DISCLAIMER: Pursuant to Internal Revenue Service (“IRS”) Policy, any payer who has exceeded $10,000 in cash for the year will have to fill out an IRS Form 8300 each time a transaction is made in cash for that year.

Photo Identification is required for cash payments exceeding $10,000.


If you need to submit payments, there is a drop box outside, to the left of the main entrance of the building.

The Tax Claim Bureau is responsible for the collection of all delinquent real property taxes on behalf of the County, municipalities, and school districts located in Dauphin County. (Steelton-Highspire School District delinquent real property tax is collected by Portnoff Law Associates beginning with the 2018 tax.) In this statutory collection process, the Bureau receives unpaid accounts from the 39 municipalities, via tax collectors and/or treasurers within Dauphin County, provides statutorily mandated notices to owners, and administers Upset Tax Sales, Judicial Tax Sales, bankruptcies, and the repository of unsold properties. (Steelton Borough delinquent real property tax is collected by Portnoff Law Associates beginning with the 2018 tax.) The Bureau also provides various tax certifications regarding paid and unpaid delinquent taxes as requested.

Tax Certification
A tax certification is an official document produced on Tax Claim Bureau letterhead stating whether there are or are not delinquent real estate taxes due on a parcel.
A tax claim statement accompanies this document, which reflects the amount of delinquent taxes owed on that parcel as of the certificate date. If no delinquent taxes are due, the claim statement will reflect that information.
The cost for a tax certification is $15 per parcel.

Tax Sale Abstract
A Tax Sale Abstract is an official document produced by the Tax Claim Bureau after the tax sale of a parcel. An abstract includes the date and type of sale, owners name(s), sale notice dates and type of service, posting and advertisement dates and the purchasers name(s).

An Upset Sale Abstract provides information regarding the notification and type of service to owner(s) and co-owner(s).
A Judicial Sale Abstract provides the same information as the Upset Sale Abstract, as well as lien holder(s) and type of service of sale notification.

A Repository Sale Abstract provides the same information as Judicial Sale Abstracts.
The cost for a tax sale abstract is $25 per parcel, per sale.

2018 and future tax years - Real Property Tax for Steelton-Highspire School District will be collected by Portnoff Law Associates – this includes districts 30, 57, 58, 59, 60, and 61.

2018 and future tax years - Real Property Tax for Steelton Borough will be collected by Portnoff Law Associates – this includes districts 57, 58, 59, 60, and 61.
