Spend time outdoors this fall at beautiful Detweiler Park enjoying The Snow Thief by Alice Hemming, illustrated by Nicola Slater.

Enjoy a moderately paced walk around Wildwood Lake while enjoying the trees and animals at the park. This will be a walk on paved, gravel, and dirt surfaces. You can choose to walk only a portion, then turn around at any point if you would like to customize the length of your walk to your individual fitness goals.

This is a beginner course open to anyone interested in learning to tie flies. The class will be conducted on 6 consecutive Thursday evenings beginning on February 12 and ending on March 19. Everyone must provide their own tools.

Join a Naturalist for a fun interactive story session for children ages 3-5. Stories, rhymes, and a craft/activity will introduce science through the eyes of the Cat In The Hat.

Join a Naturalist to explore the world of geese, examine their amazing adaptations and discover why jets mimic geese in flight! The program will include a short walk, craft, and activities to take home.

Bundle up for a winter walk at Wiconisco Park. Discover hardy plants that thrive in late winter and learn how they survive the cold with a Naturalist. Registrants must be accompanied by a chaperone for the duration of the program. A maximum of one chaperone per child is permitted. Space is limited and preregistration is required.

Join Appalachian Audubon Society to learn about their Bird Safe Harrisburg initiative. A major component of this initiative is a bird collision monitoring program which aims to identify the timing of collisions, what bird species are most affected and what buildings in Harrisburg are most deadly.

Sample the Japanese art form known as bonsai. This workshop will provide you with a brief history, a Juniper (Procumbens nana), wire, chopstick, small pruners, and a care sheet. Instructors from Fat Cat Bonsai will guide you from the selection of a viewing side to trunk and branch placement. Create your own living art. Proceeds benefit the Friends of Wildwood. Space is limited to 12 participants. Pre-registration is required.

Experience an evening of creativity and relaxation at this hands‑on fused glass suncatcher workshop. Participants will design and assemble a single 4" x 4" clear glass panel using a variety of floral‑themed accessories, creating a vibrant piece that captures and reflects the light beautifully. Pre-registration is required. A Park Rx wellness program sponsored by Highmark Blue Shield.
